Mosquitoes

Mosquito

  • They live for 2 months that’s half your summer!

  • Only female mosquitoes bite.

  • Mosquitoes are the world’s deadliest insect/animal.

  • Mosquitoes love CO2.

  • There are over 3,000 different species of mosquitoes throughout the world.

  • They’re greedy! They can drink 3 times their body weight in blood.

  • They’re as old as dinosaurs.

Ticks

Tick

  • They’re not insects, they’re arachnids (relatives to spiders, mites, and scorpions).

  • “I WANT TO SUCK YOUR BLOOD!” They’re mini vampires!

  • They’re dog lovers! They easily crawl up your pup’s leg and latch on to them.

  • Ticks latch on for the long haul. Thankfully diseases aren’t transmitted until 24-48hrs.

  • Only a few types of ticks spread disease.

  • You’re most at risk for a tick bite in the summer.

Fleas

Flea

  • They can go a very long time without eating.

  • A female flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day.

  • They’re great jumpers! Can jump over 150 times their body length!

  • Indoor pets are not safe from fleas.

  • Your pet can develop allergies from flea bites.

  • They can transmit parasites.

  • Flea infestations can make animals very sick.

  • They have been on this planet for approximately 100 million years.
